Bon Appétit name America’s Best New Restaurants of 2016

Bon Appétit editors Andrew Knowlton and Julia Kramer have released their annual Best New Restaurants list, and there’s a few Angeleno spots to get across. The restaurant and travel mag hit all points of the compass, scouring the country to pronounce the 50 best new restaurants of 2016 – from French-Mexican fusion to an onigiri-slinging food truck, this list has it all.

The LA contingent includes Santa Monica’s casually cool French-Asian restaurant, Cassia; Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo’s friendly French-Mexican brunch spot, Trois Familia; DTLA Filipino eatery, RiceBar; contemporary neighbourhood diner from the same minds behind The Spare Room, Winsome; and Baroo, a hole-in-the-wall Korean-American restaurant where Chef Kwang Uh serves kombucha and other fermented fare.

“Baroo is what you get when a high-level chef opens a super-casual spot in a Hollywood mini mall, with not so much as a sign outside.”

The Top 50 will soon get whittled down, check back August 16 to find out which spots earn a coveted place in Bon Appétit’s Hot 10.
