The Mondrian Park Avenue is opening soon and will feature a nightclub in its basement. Richie Akiva, of celebrity favorite 1OAK and Butter, is teaming up with Journal Hotels to bring another hot spot to the group’s new NOMAD location.
“We’re excited about bringing all of these elements together — the great Mondrian brand with nightlife guru Richie Akiva and Journal Hotels to Park Avenue,” said Journal Hotels CEO Steven Brandman, who along with VP of Brand Experience Sal Imposimato, put the collaboration with Akiva into action.
Akiva’s other ventures are already established players in the nightlife scene. 1OAK dominates clubland in Los Angeles, NYC, and Las Vegas, and Butter has been a famed Midtown haunt for the glitterati for nearly a decade.
The hotel will also launch a new restaurant, Cleo, already a favorite in Miami and Los Angeles, as well as a rooftop lounge. Cleo will feature a Mediterranean-inspired shared plates concept developed by Chef Danny Elmaleh.
The Mondrian, along with its nightclub, rooftop lounge (Fifteen Stories), and Cleo, will open this month as Journal Group’s first property in New York City.
