The hugely popular menswear e-tailer branched into brick-and-mortar locations a couple years ago, with this one on Fifth Avenue serving as the flagship. Unlike traditional clothing boutiques, here you are set up with a personal shopper – appointments are highly recommended – who will help you select anything from a suit to an entire wardrobe in about 45 minutes. Instead walking out with your purchase, it will be shipped promptly to you, for no extra cost. And as the focus of the brand is fit and quality, rest assured that even basic items like tees and sweats will look sharp for years to come.
Showplace Antique & Design Center
Since 1993, this retail emporium and gallery spanning four floors and nearly 40,000 square feet has served as a valuable resource for collectors, designers, and veteran shoppers alike. Inside, it’s like a virtual treasure hunt – set aside a couple hours if you can – with nearly 200 dealers purveying assorted merchandise, including high-end jewelry, furniture, fine art, even apparel. Most pieces are in mint condition, and the popular bi-monthly auctions are an especially lively affair, where bidders can put offers on an eclectic collection of goods sourced from all over the globe.
Rizzoli Bookstore
Back in 2015, this beloved New York mainstay reopened on the corner of 25th Street and Broadway on the ground floor of the stately St. James Building. Today, Rizzoli feels more elegant than ever, thanks to 5,000 square feet, soaring ceilings, custom Fornasetti wallpaper, and a skylight that encourages natural light flood the space. The cherry-wood shelves are meticulously organized, brimming with books covering topics of interest for even the most discerning culture hounds, from art and fashion to photography and cooking.
Jung Lee
After years as one of New York’s most successful and sought after event planners, Jung Lee decided to open her eponymous shop – and dedicate it to the art of living well. Her keen eye for presentation is evident in her imaginative displays of elegant home goods, all of which double up as presents that will undoubtedly be well-received. Price points run the gamut from wallet-friendly to splurge-worthy, and if you’re about to get hitched, there’s a unique registry service that matches up gifts according to your lifestyle, budget, and even personal interests.
Opening Ceremony
Since opening their first boutique in 2002, co-founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have built quite a venerable fashion empire with locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. And as with other OC shops, this bright and cheery 1500-square foot outpost offers up a well-curated roster of the fashion world’s coolest designers (think Acne Studios, Kenzo, and Rachel Comey), in addition to eclectic, travel-friendly items sourced from the owners’ jet-setting lifestyles. Not to mention, plenty of pieces from the brand’s own, ever-popular Opening Ceremony Collection.
